On September 8th, 2021, the Roads and Transport announced the takeover of the Operations and Maintenance of the Dubai Metro and the Operations of Dubai Tram by Keolis MHI. A consortium that was formed between Keolis (France) and Mitsubishi (Japan) to further Strengthens their presence in the region as leaders in providing bespoke rail management services.

Since the announcement, Keolis MHI has committed to delivering a number of obligations to support the Roads and Transport Authority by delivering innovative and sustainable public transport solutions. These commitments include enhancing operational process, introduce new innovative solutions, deliver a safety ethos to the public and ensure the standards of operations are maintained near 100% on train service availability and punctuality.

The contract to operate and maintain the Dubai Metro and operate the Dubai tram runs for 15 years: A 9-year contract with a potential 6-year extension, Keolis MHI successfully supported in the delivery of the Roads and Transport Authority’s vision and passenger requirements for public transportation through management of global events, such as the Expo 2020 Dubai, other large-scale events such as the Dubai Run and NYE, and provided an innovative platform to exchange ideas and conceptualize ultramodern application in the field of public transportation.

Adding: Throughout the past year, Keolis MHI in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority have maintained key milestones that are synonymous with the Metro and Tram. Such as 99% train Service Availability and Train Punctuality, calibrated Tram speed for faster travel time, obtaining the International Customer Experience Service Accreditation (ICXS) with a score of 87% in its first year, achieved the targeted 5-year nationalization requirement for private sector in just 3 months and the GEEIS Gender Equality Award.

He further explained: Highlighting the awards aspect, as a rail management company we are tasked with deliver critical service that must be safe, as such, an extensive auditing and accreditation process are established to ensure we are on par with world standards. Key ISO certification such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 31000 and 50001 are key to us as an organization to attain and be classified fit to operate.

Additionally, to further enhance the partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority, Keolis MHI is working on a sustainable plan to deliver energy efficient services to reduce the overall cost and the digitization of process in line with the city’s vision to become paperless.
