Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) concluded its entertainment and promotional activities marking the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro with a grand celebration honouring the "Metro Babies," those born on the Metro’s inauguration day (9 Sept) from 2009 to 2023. These children were celebrated at LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort.

Rashed Abdulkarim Al Mulla, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications, RTA,

said: “LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort hosted children born on the day of the Dubai Metro’s inauguration, accompanied by their parents, in a joyful celebration filled with a variety of fun activities and events. The day was marked by the joyful atmosphere among children and their parents, who joined RTA in celebrating this special occasion. The event commemorated the launch of the Metro, an iconic symbol of public transport in Dubai and one of the emirate’s most notable achievements, standing out among its numerous vital and huge projects.”

“RTA is committed to working closely with the business sector across the UAE, and particularly in Dubai, not only in the implementation of its projects but also in its recreational and promotional initiatives, such as the celebration of the Dubai Metro anniversary. This collaboration stems from the RTA’s belief in the vital role of the private sector and its organisations, which provide valuable support, expertise, and successful experiences. The private sector is regarded as a strategic partner for government entities in the emirate, including the RTA,” added Al Mulla.

LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort was proud to be part of Dubai Metro’s 15th-anniversary campaign, celebrating its culmination with a special event on September 21st at its iconic Miniland. The day began with interactive activities, including LEGO® Brick Building and meet-and-greet sessions with LEGO costume characters followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. Kids gathered at the podium at Miniland for pictures and also enjoyed the summer splash squad dance performance by the LEGOLAND® entertainment team. Families had full access to LEGOLAND® Dubai Theme Park and Water Park, making it a memorable day of celebration.

Tim Harrison-Jones, General Manager of LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort,

said: “We are thrilled to be part of Dubai Metro’s 15th anniversary celebrations and to host such a meaningful event for the ‘Metro Babies.’ These children share a unique connection with one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and we are excited to provide a day filled with creativity, fun, and memorable moments for them and their families. At LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort, we strive to create unforgettable experiences for children, and we look forward to making this day extra special for our young guests.”

This year’s celebration was further enriched by the participation of several sponsors and partners, including Keolis – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram), which joined as a strategic partner. Additional campaign partners included LEGOLAND® Dubai Resort, LEGO Middle East, IGLOO, Al Jaber Gallery, and Emirates Post as campaign partners.
